The screen the premiere was shown on-seats were $1000 (but all $ donated to Boys and Girls Club)
The black carpet
We went to the cake decorating party and we were each given our own cakes and decorating supplies while we were serenaded with songs and jokes by a chef. Whose microphone didn't work (remember the rides not working either? Not complaining just think that the happiest place on earth would be happier if their electronic equipment had actually been working....) until halfway through our time.
Little G (A's friend and son of our neighbors) and A got to wear big birthday buttons and have unwanted (on their part) praise and attention heaped upon them by the employees of Disneyland. It was such a relief to sit down after running around all day and have lemonade and cake (sugar). Z spent her entire decorating time shoveling m & m into her mouth one at a time as quickly as she could and then consuming the cake undecorated. A spent her entire time decorating it and not eating it.
The suprise for the kids was Minnie and Mickey dropped by and partook in singing Happy Birthday to all the birthday kids (there were maybe twenty families there?) and then posing for pictures.
We hit a couple more rides and then wandered back towards the front of the park slowly.
Can you see A and Z peaking over the edge of their rides??
We had to pry Jessica away from the carpet as she was starstruck and had witnessed Steven Tyler making his way up the carpet. We started shopping while she was gazing on the stars....and we decided to cut back through the stores rather than try and shove our way behind the crowd on Main Street. At one store I bought some just darling sparkly princess shoes (insert sarcastic tone here and I'll explain why in a minute).....and while Scott was paying for our purchase I saw Dad sitting on a side street off the Main Street waiting for us. I briefly considered joining him with the girls and got side tracked by a jewelry rack.
As we were walking out of the store (I had called Jessica a few minutes earlier and she was waiting towards the front of the park for us)....Dad casually mentions, "Johnny Depp just walked by." Apparently to get him to his place to stroll down the black carpet the Disney employees had walked him up behind all the people on Main Street (had they just turned around at the right moment) and down right past where my father was sitting. I was so close and yet so far away. And for two pairs of sparkly shoes. That I am now considering forcing the girls to wear to bed and all summer long.
