My parents had given this book to A about a year ago. It talks about a lion who lost his roar. So he wanders the jungle...asking different animals what he should do. They all give the advice to make the same noise they do. The animal's heads in the book are raised and stuffed and when pressed give the correct corresponding noise.
A has worked long and hard to be able to push the heads and get the noise out. She has also been working long and hard at getting into the chair in her bedroom on her own and "reading" to herself. We often go to check on her after a long nap to find her sitting in the chair with a book flipping the pages happily.
And that is how on a Sunday morning at 6:30 am we heard from A's monitor the cackling monkey.
I think it may have shaved 7 years off my life. Or added more grey hairs.
