Labor week...

Since Labor Day it has been run from one event to the other and try to catch a few winks in between. We have been working fast and furious on our backyard...after all...it is almost winter. In Arizona. When we emerge from the caves of our darkened air conditioned homes blinkily blearily in the light. When the pool temperature dives below 85 degrees...brrrr.

We dug a trench around the play area/swing set and filled it in with a retaining wall of two blocks deep. That was the day before Labor Day. On Labor Day I got suckered in by the pretty ad by Moon Valley Nurseries and ordered some palm trees. That are two stories tall. I dragged home manageable bushes and dug holes for them. Then proceeded to have to water them all daily to keep the soil loose or some other nonsense like that.

Friday, the kidsafe turf was delivered. All 2000# on a pallet. Neatly wrapped up in plastic bags. The palm trees arrived shortly thereafter. Many men came to dig holes. Using jack hammers during nap time. Z slept through it all. Last but not least, the men came to give us quotes for a deck roof. One hit our price limit quite within budget...the first guy not so much. Going to call and ask why his quote is so much higher....am I missing something here. The little microburst we got tonight however raised a pertinent question...what does the rain sound like on the aluminum based wood looking product???

Turf is under the play area so now 2 year olds across the planet can play on the ladders and swings and bounce back up to the spot they fell off of. It is that springy.

Scott and A went to the Cardinals game. Z and I hung out and enjoyed each other time. Back to the grind tomorrow. Gotta pay for it all somehow.....the palm trees don't grow money on them....
