Even though the blue hairs are leaving in droves escaping or fleeing from the arid Arizona heat we still persist. I wouldn't trade the winters here for anything. I can go visit the snow anytime. But our location is superb...close to Las Vegas, close to Cali, close to Mexico, close to beaches.....ok, granted we haven't made it to many or those places...well, only California recently, but WHEN we want to go they'll be there. Unless the big one hits California and it falls off the into the ocean.
My point is, we can do things in the summer besides swim and go to movies. Not that we take the babies to the movies yet. Again at some point our lives will not revolve around nap times. Or early morning wake up times. Since Aubrey doesn't know how to snuggle back into bed and on that thought, neither does Zoe since kicking me in the stomach and pummeling me on the chest seems to be a favorite past time at 6 am, we got up and headed to a nearby park.
First a quick pitstop. Must have for a park date: Starbucks!!! And since Aubrey can't have the caffeine yet, we musn't stunt her 75% height, she at least got the experience.
The park we drive to has a baby swing and it also has awesome shade covers to keep some of the equipment from overheating. It doesn't suprise me that one of Aubrey's first words was "hot". Touch one slide, granted it's plastic, but even plastic heats up in 90 degrees quickly.
After a few runs down the slide and a few pushes on the swing it was really quite too hot at 9 am to continue and we worried about Zoe overheating who was, as usual, snoozing away. We loaded up and retreated to our dark air conditioned home.
Later in the day, G'ma and Papa Morigeau came by and Aubrey finally got to go swimming like she has been requesting. She is making progress....this summer she isn't all gung ho to jump in but each time we go "swimming" aka splashing, she goes a little further in the water. She has worked up the nerve to sit on the edge and kick her legs in the water to wandering out on the step if you hold her hand. Then it progressed to sitting on the edge of the cool deck and slide in. Until the back of her thighs are raw and abraded. Yesterday she was up to blowing bubbles in the water and practiced kicking. Her favorite is to throw the ball and make you retrieve it. Not sure what event we are being trained for but she tells me she is pleased with our progress.

Love the new blog! :)
